Eating and drinking is not allowed in the classrooms, library, practice area and studios. You are also responsible for ensuring that guests (musicians, actors, etc.) you bring along also adhere to these rules. The Student Lounge on the ground floor offers you enough space to eat, relax and take a well-deserved break. Again, please adhere to our SAE Vienna Corona policy.
Permission from the Campus Manager is required to make film and audio recordings for commercial purposes.
The SAE and individual faculty members have all rights to class materials and lessons. No unauthorised audio / video recording of classes is permitted.
The organization of any kind of gathering is prohibited, except for those dedicated to charitable purposes and approved by the Campus Manager. Stand-alone parties, workshops, and gatherings are not allowed unless they have been arranged with the Department Head and Campus Manager.
Conducting sales transactions, distributing promotional materials (e.g. flyers), and other merchandise distribution for profit without management approval are prohibited.
Students are not allowed to make any changes to the operating system or install any software on the workstations. An interim status of one's work may be saved on the workstation drives at one's own risk. SAE Institute takes no responsibility for the preservation of this data.
A backup should always be made on a separate drive as well. Data on SAE Vienna computers should not be considered as backup. It can always happen that we clean the hard drives of the devices and delete data in the process.
Please save only necessary data to avoid cluttering up the hard drives unnecessarily.
Do not change the cabling at the workstations. If changes are necessary, please ask our supervisors. Unauthorized rewiring may result in workstation suspensions or termination if repeated.
The Practice Area on the 5th floor is a workplace. Please behave accordingly and be considerate of your fellow students. If you are too loud, eat in the Practice Area or behave in a way that prevents fellow students from working, the supervisors can expel you from the Practice Area.
There are several areas in the building that you as students are not allowed to enter, so that our staff can work on sensitive data in peace. If you want to contact a staff member, please write an email and make an appointment or contact the supervisor.
You can find the contact details of the staff members in the Student Portal Dashboard in the Staff Overview.
The following areas are off limits for students:
4th floor (rented to an external company)
3rd floor (kitchen & offices - without appointment or office hours)
2nd floor (offices - without appointment or office hours)
Basement
For filming or other recordings that are to take place in the building and take place outside of bookable premises, permission must always be obtained from SAE in advance and in good time. The conditions agreed upon in each case apply with regard to the scope and expense of the work. The active school operation may not be disturbed by a shooting.
Without permission, any filming may be stopped immediately by the staff.
All productions made at the SAE Institute Vienna, or with equipment of the SAE Institute Vienna, may not be used or exploited commercially, or be part of commercial productions.
Damage to SAE equipment, furnishings or installations in the building must be reported immediately. Students are responsible for damage of any kind they or their escorts cause to equipment and/or software. All users of the building and rooms of the SAE Institute Vienna are liable for any damage they culpably cause to the campus facilities according to the provisions of civil law.
Copying of software provided by SAE Institute is prohibited.
Please do not leave your personal belongings unattended. SAE is not responsible for lost or misplaced items. Found items will be left with the Supervisors on the 5th floor in the lost and found box.
All students have the opportunity to use the SAE Vienna WLAN on campus. Internet access is for study purposes and should only be used to research course-related information. Each and every student must agree to the terms of use for the internet before being allowed to use the network.
You will receive the WLAN password in the first class session after you have signed the terms of use.
Only data relevant to the course of study may be downloaded. Each student is responsible for his or her own internet and intranet activities. Illegal downloads (e.g. music, movies and software) or other copyright violations will not be tolerated. Misuse of Internet access may be punished by immediate termination of the contract. Furthermore, legal claims against SAE will be forwarded to the respective originator.
As a student at a media institute and the prospect of a job in the media field, each of you should respect copyright law.
At various places in the building there are "escape and rescue plans", which show the escape routes with the help of green arrows. You will also find the location of fire extinguishers and first aid kits on these plans. In addition, there are signs on the wall that identify the fire extinguishers. Illuminated signs indicate escape routes and (emergency) exits.
The telephone number of our first aiders is +43 1 9610303-40.
Corridor and door areas, as well as the staircase, must be kept clear and must not be obstructed. They serve as escape routes for your own safety.
Fire and/or smoke detectors as well as manual call points (red box, wall-mounted, with glass to break) are distributed throughout the building.
The detectors are primarily equipped with optical sensors and therefore respond to excessive smoke/dust. The use of smoke machines/hazers or other dust-generating apparatus is therefore generally prohibited.
In the event of an audible or visual alarm, you must leave the building immediately. In case of fire, break the glass of the red box and press the alarm button.
IMPORTANT: In the event of a fire alarm, please follow the instructions of SAE personnel. Leave the building as calmly and orderly as possible via the escape routes and (emergency) exits. For your own safety, please familiarize yourself with the escape routes. In case of health problems, please inform the SAE staff directly.
