If you need to postpone your studies for a specific reason (e.g., serious illness), you must request a course interruption in writing and mail it or bring it to the Campus Coordinator. Further, you should speak with the Department Head and/or Academic Coordinator to let them know that you will be suspending classes and when you plan to return. They will discuss with you what effect your interruption will have on exams and class attendance, and how to ensure the smoothest possible re-entry.
In the event of a break or module repetition, it must always be clear that it is not possible to ensure that you will be able to re-enter a course seamlessly. For example, a course may not be offered at all times, class content and exams may have been updated, there may be new and different equipment. Please inquire on your own what changes have occurred and, most importantly, take care of your lecture and exam dates when you rejoin.
If the interruption of your studies is very long, you still have to make sure that you do not exceed the maximum time limit for handing in exams and the maximum duration of studies (6 years until Bachelor).
If you encounter problems during your studies that make it impossible for you to continue, please talk to your department head, academic coordinator and/or head of school first. In such a case, please do not simply quit or stop coming to class, as there may be alternatives to quitting. If, despite everything, you see only the path of termination, then you should follow these rules:
Please inform the Campus Coordination in writing (on paper and signed) about the termination.
The cancellation can be done at the end of each year quarter (31.3., 30.6., 30.9., 31.12.) with a notice period of 6 weeks. Please keep in mind that course fees must be paid by the end of the annual quarter.
You must consider whether you would like to make a re-entry agreement at the time of cancellation, so that it will be possible for you to continue the course at a later date.
It is strongly recommended that you speak with the Department Head and/or Academic Coordinator to be informed of alternatives if necessary. The Campus Coordinator can inform you of financial implications in the event of a cancellation or course interruption.
You may continue the course up to one year later through a re-entry contract in the event of a cancellation. The current tuition rates and contract terms at the time of contracting apply.
If so many students drop out or quit in a module that classes can no longer continue, a course may be dissolved. Normally this occurs when 3 students drop out, but the decision rests with the school administration.
If course dissolution becomes an issue, your department head and Campus Coordinator will reach out to you.
