"Literacy is... the road to human progress and the means through which every man, woman, and child can realize his or her full potential."
Ms. Fountain grew up the child of an active duty Army officer, which presented her with many wonderful experiences and opportunities.
Ms. Fountain attended University of Dubuque and received a Bachelor’s degree in English Secondary Education. Upon graduating from University of Dubuque, she was a substitute teacher and assistant girl’s soccer coach at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School in Fayetteville, Georgia. In the summer of 2011, Ms. Fountain moved to Carlisle, Pennsylvania. While living in the South-Central Pennsylvania area, she was substitute teacher in both the public school system and the Diocese of Harrisburg. Ms. Fountain also had the opportunity to coach soccer at the Milton Hershey School for several seasons. In July 2015, she received a Master’s degree in Literacy Education from Penn State Harrisburg. She taught 6th grade RELA (Reading English Language Arts) and coached soccer at a Title I middle school in the DC metro area for three years. Ms. Fountain sees teaching as a way to serve her community. Empowering middle school students to demonstrate their maximum potential is a rewarding challenge. Ms. Fountain is excited about the upcoming school year and is looking forward to collaborating with the Sacred Heart community to build the literacy skills of all middle school students in her charge.
Ms. Fountain is the 7th grade homeroom teacher and teaches English to 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
