After graduating Roger Williams University with a BA in mathematics and a BS in secondary education, I taught math at Riverhead High School while pursuing my Master of Arts degree in pure mathematics at St. John's University. In 2006 I started teaching at Sachem High School East.  In 2009 began teaching evening classes at Suffolk Community College, and in 2011 I became an adjunct professor at Briarcliffe College. In 2014 I began teaching statistics courses at the University of Bridgeport (Online).  I currently teach AP Statistics, and AP Calculus AB.

On April 30, 2014 I was awarded a Doctorate of Education from Dowling College, school of educational administration, leadership, and technology. My dissertation research was in secondary math instructional practices, academic optimism, instructional leadership, and receptivity to curricular change in schools with high and low mathematics mastery and poverty.

On July 1, 2018 I was named Department Chair of the Sachem East math department.

I was a NYS finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (PAEMST) in 2023.

On September 10, 2012 TED.com, a website with several hundred thousand followers (and over a million views) published my video on their TED-ED site.  I was animated into a cartoon character to deliver a script that I wrote and narrated.
