FINNISH STUDENTS IN ALBACETE (ERASMUS MOBILITY)

ÁNGELA ALEDO and ELENA SORIANO | Experiecia ERASMUS+ | 13 de FEBRERO de 2023

From 15th to 22nd January 2023, Finnish students from Lappeenranta (Finland) came to Albacete for a week, as part of a mobility within Erasmus activities.

It was my first experience on an Erasmus mobility and by all means it was definitely worth it. I consider this a unique experience, and I’d recommend it a lot to people who like travelling, meeting new people and learning about other cultures.

That week was amazing in a lot of aspects, but what I’d highlight the most is the great clash of cultures that has been presented to me and my colleagues. This has helped me learn a lot about how my whole life is conditioned by where I live, and it has also made me grateful for the place where I grew up. Another thing that I’ve also enjoyed a lot has been the trips and activities that we have been lucky enough to do, both cultural, sports and social, and I’m really proud of how my friends and I have managed this situation and turned it into something fun as well as learning, without forgetting the professionalism and work behind Erasmus. I am also very grateful to all the teachers who have made this experience possible, because I’m aware of the great work that goes into organizing something like this. In conclusion, and having said all this, I would highly recommend this experience, I’d even say that it’s something that you have to live at least once in your life. This Erasmus has opened my mind and increased my curiosity to discover other cultures, as well as my desire to travel. I’m looking foward to going to Finland, because I’m sure I’m going to love it.

The week started on Sunday night when the 20 Finnish students arrived in Albacete. At first it was a bit uncomfortable because we didn’t know each other but we had dinner together while we were asking things about ourselves and all started getting better. Then we went to sleep.

Next day I showed my host student (Helena) my daily routine, my high school, my city, some Spanish traditions…

During the week I tried to give her typical Spanish foods like paella, Spanish omelette, croquettes…  and she liked everything!.

Also, when days were going through she and me were becoming closer friends, so we could talk, laugh and the coexistence was very great.

We went to Valencia, to Chinchilla, to the radio and also to the Town Hall where we showed out presentations.

It was an amazing experience, I  learnt lots of things about her, her country  and I think she  also learnt many things from Albacete and Spain.

I can’t wait to go to Finland and see her again!
