From Sunday 15th to 21st January we travelled to Exmouth (U.K.) to spend a week there living with host families. We were 19 students from 4 ESO and two teachers, Mª Ángeles and Rosaura.

Exmouth is located in the county of Devon, not far from Exeter There were many activities scheduled for the week. Early in the mornings and we went to HELLO EXMOUTH  Academy  to practice our English with lots of activities and games.

In the afternons and evenings we had wonderful activities with our leaders Olivia and Matt: we visited Exeter, Topsham, we went bowling, we watched Avatar, we had a nice walk along the Jurassic Coast, and we even had the chance to go to the Youth Club with BritishTeens with who we got along well.

On Monday we were taken on an orientation tour around town in order to get to know the place. The route was very nice because we could see the beach and very beautiful old houses. On Tuesday  afternoon, we went to the bowling alley where we had a great time (some of us played better than others) and then we did a gymkhana in which we had to take photos from  different places in Exmouth

When we went to Exeter, a nearby town with a big shopping district and lot of history from Roman times, we visited the beautiful Gothic Cathedral, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum as well as the narrowest street in UK, the one which inspired J.K. Rowling to create Diagon Alley. I think most of us can agree that some extra time would’ve been superb since we were only given 45 minutes of free time. But…next time!

We also went to the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site which stretches from Exmouth to Studland Bay a 154-km walk along the cliffs from where you could have breathtaking views at the same time we were in touch with geological history. We only visited the beginning of that path, so that is something to be done next time there! We don´t want to finish without mentioning the deliciuos cream tea we had at a beautiful 16th century Inn, The Globe in Topsham.   Sadly, we had to leave the following day, Saturday 21st.

The fact that we were living with families made the experience authentic as we could  share with local/native people the way they live, the real meals they normally have.

In conclusion, in our trip to Exmouth we have learned a lot of English and we have discovered new people, new landscapes (for instance, the Jurassic Coast and the Exmouth Marina) and, specially a new culture. We had a wonderful time there. We wouldn´t mind repeating the experience!
