“Why do you look for the living among the dead?
He is not here, but has risen.
Luke 24:5
Draw us forth, God of all creation.
Draw us forward and away from limited certainty
into the immense world of your love.
Give us the capacity to even for a moment
taste the richness of the feast you give us.
Give us the peace to live with uncertainty,
with questions,
with doubts.
Help us to experience the resurrection anew
with open wonder and an increasing ability
to see you in the people of Easter.

Dear Families,
Our natural world is providing us with many blessings at the moment. From the majestic ‘Pink Moon’ on Tuesday night to the stunning sunshine in the last half of the week and autumn colours creating a spectacle in our streets and gardens, we are surrounded by beauty and evidence of God’s great gifts.
How fortunate that our year five and six students headed off to camp at Anglesea with the promise of three days of sunshine. I hope that you also have the chance to embrace the gifts of this beautiful time of year.
Celebrating Mothers’ Day - May 7th
We are so excited to be able to again welcome mothers to school for this very speci al day of celebration. We are busy taking orders for breakfast, gathering gifts for our Mothers’ Day stall and planning and practising for our liturgy.
Just a couple of reminders:
Breakfast orders are due on Wednesday May 5th
When visiting school buildings please register using the QR code
Limits to numbers in our parish church mean we can only offer invitations to our Foundation and Year One mums this year. We apologise for this and hope that in 2022 we can have a ‘Full House’ again
Catholic Education Week 2021 will be celebrated from 23-29 May.
In recognition of 200 years of Catholic education in Australia, Catholic Education Week 2021 will align with school communities across Australia in celebrating this landmark event. The theme for the week is Faith in the Future which speaks of the essence of hope in faith, so needed in our world.
A central focus of the week will be the celebration of the Feast of Our Lady Help of Christians. Patron of Australia, on Monday 24 May. A national Mass will be celebrated on this day with the key intention being that students, staff, parents and the wider community join together on the one day across Australia to pray in thanksgiving for 200 years of Catholic education, and with great faith in the future of Catholic education. A representative group of St Alipius students will join with staff and students from other schools across Ballarat in a celebration of the Eucharist at St Patrick’s Cathedral on this day.
On Friday May 28th at 11.45 our school community will gather in a liturgical celebration to bless and commission the beautiful window that was installed in our Mercy Wing last December.
The scripture quote ‘The Truth will set you free’ drives all that we do at St Alipius and inspires us to be people of ‘Faith in the Future’. We look forward to celebrating with the people who inspired the window, the people who created the window and the people who funded the window. A worthy celebration in this year that we recognise a 200 year legacy of Catholic Education in Australia - and the important place that St Alipius has held on the Ballarat education scene for the past 168 years.

Prior to the school holidays, students engaged in a Holy Week liturgy based around the Stations of the Cross depicting the last moments of Jesus’ life and His death. This was a sombre occasion.
On the first Monday of Term 2, we celebrated. Students were greeted by a splash of colour, in the form of balloons throughout the St Alipius Church, and were presented with a chocolate Easter egg on behalf of the school community.
These two parts of the overall liturgy contrast the darkness and the light of this period in the liturgical calendar.
A buzz of 'celebration' was evident within our community for this occasion and we look forward to continuing this celebration throughout the term ahead.
The Last Supper before heading to Church for our whole school Holy Week Liturgy.
As investigators, we explored the different roles and responsibilities that could be performed in our dramatic play areas. We made a poster about all the different things that a waiter would do in the kitchen area.
In Foundation, we experience music education each week with Adam!
We love it!
Today Mason brought in a spiny leaf insect to show the class. We learnt about what they eat and how long they live for as well as a number of other interesting facts.
Thank you Mason!
We are learning to count by thirds.

Camp preparations were in full swing on Tuesday! Building positive relationships, independence, resilience and coping strategies, and more, are big components to the camp experience.
Throughout the day, students worked in teams to follow packing lists and arrange their packs in an organised way, raced against the clock to complete sleeping bag relays refining our sleeping bag pack-up skills, voted on a 'camp song' and recorded our camp aspiration ahead of the camp experience.
We revisited our Behaviour Pathways to understand school policy from the perspective of school camp and completed the 'Stress Management' module of the Respectful Relations curriculum.
Sleeping bag relays! This task involved team building, negotiation, strategising, cooperation and a fast pace!
Team building activities to ease some of our pre-camp anxieties and better understand other peoples likes, dislikes and feelings about various things.
