Substitute Teachers

The Substitute Teacher's Group Committee (STGC) is dedicated to addressing the needs of substitute teachers within the Rocky View School Division. Its primary purpose is to offer support, establish a communication network for concerns, and collaborate with the Local to ensure contract and working conditions are met. The STGC also works to inform the school division of issues affecting substitute teachers, aiming for timely resolution, and provides a professional development session annually. The importance of this group lies in its ability to act as a focus group for unique substitute teacher challenges, advise the local council, facilitate communication with the provincial Alberta Teachers’ Association, and contribute to local negotiations and policy development. Members gather for a general meeting in the fall and a Spring Annual General Meeting (AGM) is also held, featuring committee nominations and elections for the upcoming year. To join this group and benefit from its initiatives, substitute teachers are encouraged to email their non-Rocky View email address to subs@rvata35.ca. 

This ensures they are connected to the communication network and can actively participate in

the group's efforts to support and advocate for substitute teachers.
