Needling

Students will work on their own self paced projects. They will work and collaborate with other needle workers while making steady progress on their items. Students will also learn how to read instructions from patterns.

Sculpture

This course is for beginners as well those with experience.We'll learn how to model various types of sculpture, like wall design, portraits, human figures, animals etc. and their basic anatomy. Come and join us as the instructor leads you individually step by step to create beautiful sculpture in clay or plastiline.

After completion your design you might transfer it into a permanent material by learning how to make a mold and how to cast it and apply finishing coats on the surface of your sculpture.List of materials will be provided on the first session. Cost of material is about $ 20.

Knitting

Did you ever want to learn how to knit but were afraid of how to get started? Cast away with us as we work on our first project, an infinity scarf. You’ll leave this class with a solid foundation that you’ll be able to apply to any future project – casting on, binding off, knitting, purling, sewing seams and weaving in ends. You will also pick up tricks as we go. Grab your needles and yarn and you’ll be making new wearables and gifts in no- time! For those of you that are returning please contact the Adult School Director. For first time knitters, please come to class with 3 or 4 skeins of size 6 (super bulky) yarn in your favorite color with size 12 or 13 knitting needles.

Intention Bracelet Making

Sewing for Adults

In this class students need to bring a sewing pattern of their choice. Those with no experience should bring in a Kwik Sew pattern. Sewing patterns chosen should be of garments for themselves as we will be learning how to fit the sewing pattern. Students will learn the techniques suitable for creating their chosen garment. bring your own sewing machine if you have one or a sewing machine is provided for use. Patterns should be brought in for the first day of class. This class is suitable for those with no experience, some experience or for those who need a refresher. By the end of the series of classes, students will have an understanding of how sewing patterns work, be able to read the instructions and be comfortable on the sewing machine.

Watercolor Painting

Anyone who loves or wants to paint with watercolors are welcome. Learn the principles of watercolor painting techniques, wet on wet, dry brush, create and explore existing techniques such as translucent, gauge, floral and landscape painting. Bring watercolor paint set, 140 cold press watercolor paper, 12x16 pad, round brushes, #5-8 paint mixing tray, kneaded eraser, 2-B pencil and plastic water jar. Class size is limited to 15 students.

Introduction to Digital Camera Basics

This course introduces the student to their Digital (DSLR) Camera. We will cover all basic aspects of photography that include camera functions, manual shooting and aesthetics. Student assignments are encouraged and will be reviewed in class. Please bring camera and manual to all classes. Should have DSLR; point and shoot cameras are not advanced enough for this class. The instructor has 20+ years of experience in portraiture, editorial, advertising and event photography and graduated from the School of Visual Arts. Class size is limited to 22 students. Bring in photographed assignments and cameras, all lenses, batteries fully charged, memory cards and manuals.

Floral Design for Weddings

Design, prepare and arrange flowers for a wedding reception, including the art of fine wiring and taping to create corsages and boutonnieres with fresh flowers, ribbons and bows. Using store-bought bouquets, students will advance to the techniques of styling and assembling simple bridal and bridesmaid bouquets. At the end of each class, students will have the opportunity to build a digital portfolio by photographing their work. The first class will be a demonstration and discussion of the basic types of wedding arrangements from table centerpieces to altar pieces, with tips for keeping your creations fresh for the big day. Students will learn how to describe floral concepts to clients and how to price arrangements and services. Needed supplies for remaining classes will be discussed. A floral tool kit will be available for purchase from the instructor.

Spring Floral Wreaths and Swags

In this class, you will design and create gorgeous one-of-a-kind Spring wreaths, swags and other hanging designs for your home. You will learn to use the textures and colors of early Spring, as well as the tricks and simple techniques for decorating a wreath. You will go home with a new skill and a fabulous wreath adorned with permanent flowers, embellished with a variety of decorations and attractive ribbons to finish off your designs. At the end of each class, students will have the opportunity to build a digital portfolio by photographing their work. The first class will be a demonstration-only class, where you will learn various design techniques. Needed supplies for remaining classes will be discussed.
