Voter education is an important first step toward participating in Rutherford Public Schools bond referendum on Tuesday, Sept. 24. But other steps are equally important, because an opinion won’t count unless it’s expressed by ballot.
Register by Tuesday, September 3rd
To participate in this referendum, voters must be registered by Tuesday, Sept. 3. Because the registration deadline is right after the Labor Day holiday, we suggest mailing it by Tuesday, Aug. 27 to be sure it gets to the right place by the right time. Voters who register for the first time or update their addresses will receive confirmation of that by mail.
New Jersey Department of State offers an easy way for citizens to check if they are registered, and in what municipality they are registered. Check your registration record here.
To register, complete a simple form and send it in time for receipt by Tuesday, Sept. 3. The form folds into an envelope with the correct address. Click here for complete rules and voter registration forms in various languages.
Polls will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 6am to 8pm. Determine your poll location here.
Act in Advance to Vote By Mail
Voters have another option for participating without being confined to a single election day. Any registered voter can apply for a Vote By Mail ballot; no reason is necessary. The application must be received by Tuesday, Aug. 27 for a ballot to be returned to you via mail.
To count in this bond referendum, Vote By Mail ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, Sept. 24.
