Welcome to the RCSC!
Welcome to the Rural Charter Schools Collaborative!
Building great schools is challenging work, and schools across America routinely face challenges as they work towards their vision of an excellent education for the students and families they serve. These challenges are often especially difficult for teachers, staff and faculty working in charter schools serving rural communities.
Rural schools, who serve approximately 11 million students (or one quarter of all students in US public schools), often find it difficult to build supportive networks to support their work, share best practices and successes, and to just lend a friendly ear.
This can be especially true for those serving in rural charter schools, who work day in and day out across the country to connect their students in meaningful ways to the the world around them. These schools, and the dedicated educators who work within them, often find found themselves outside of the systems of support available to their peers within traditional districts.
Our work at the RCSC is designed to bridge these distances through a forum for communications and networking about, to, and among rural charter schools, as well as by offering a vehicle for active collaboration among participants committed to strengthening information accessible to rural charter schools.
RCSC can bring together rural charter schools and the organizations that work to support them, including governmental organizations like the USDA and nonprofits like Building Hope, and help rural charter schools connect to a network of supportive peers, whether in traditional district schools or in other charter schools rural and urban alike. Because, after all, the work of providing all young children with access to excellent teaching and learning is a mission that is important, vital, and shared.
We invite you to work together with us to build a rich community to support our work. Share with us you successes and challenges, share resources you've found or created that have helped you, and, more importantly, learn from each other.
Our work together is important and, as always, we are better together, so welcome!
