8th Grade Social Studies
with Mr. Foran
In 8th grade students learn modern U.S. history from Civil War Reconstruction to the present. Some of the topics we study include civil rights from Reconstruction to the present, American expansion and the age of imperialism, the ways industrialization, technology and the economy have influenced the development of society, and the development of the United States as a global superpower. Class lessons emphasize developing skills in reading comprehension, critical thinking, and analytical writing. Watch the video below for an explanation of historical methodology and why historical thinking is important.
