Kennebunk High School
Alternative Education is an option for students who are not feeling successful or engaged in their mainstream classes. Students typically spend the entire day in the program unless they are enrolled in a vocational/ technical program or require additional services. They learn academic content and life skills in a hands on setting through work in the community, the management of their own project, job shadows, and participation in leadership and team building training. The curriculum is aligned to KHS proficiency standards and it is expected that all students meet these standards prior to graduation.
"I was in mainstream and it didn't really work out. I just like how we go out and do stuff and we don't sit in the classroom all day long. We are like a little family. It's nice." - Haley Ham, Junior
