Attendance Matters!
The importance of consistent, regular attendance is crucial to your child’s success in school. Good attendance helps students stay on the path to academic success. Students are at academic risk if they miss 10 percent or more of the school year, or about 18 days a year.

Tips for Success
ATTENDANCE is so crucial to your student’s success... have them here every day, even if they struggle to come... the consistency of coming makes for a good routine ~ grades are directly affected by attendance!!
Check Infinite Campus every week on a specific day and have them complete ALL missing work for that week = no zeroes
Have them show you their canvas work to check that all assignments are submitted
Make sure they are charging their iPads every night!!! Make this a routine (where they will charge & what time they put it on the charger) - this is an easy task if it becomes a routine
Parenting and Social Tips
Have FIRM boundaries about exposure to social media (limit time, have phones plugged up in your room at a certain time each night, check what they are doing on their phones, etc...)
Your students are not able to manage the social media world without you yet, so make sure they are making their stories private, blocking people that are not supportive of your student, and doing / saying things that are appropriate
There are A LOT of predators online so have conversations with your student about being safe and what that looks like
Be your student’s parent, not their best friend - even though it may be a lot easier to let them have their way, they crave and NEED structure!!
