Welcome to 2nd Grade!
My name is Vanessa Tungate and I have been a teacher for 15 years. This is my 12th year teaching 2nd grade at Maggie Cordova. I look forward to another great school year!
Homework: Weekly homework is sent home on Monday and is collected and reviewed on Friday. Please refer to the homework calendar to see nightly requirements. Remember that each calendar box needs to be initialed nightly in order for students to receive credit for nightly reading.
Daily Snack: Students need to bring in a healthy snack from home daily. I keep a back-up supply for kids who sometimes forget. Snack donations are welcomed and greatly appreciated! Students should also bring a water bottle daily in order to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Birthday Celebrations: You are welcome to send in treats for your child's birthday, but remember that treats must be healthy! There are lots of ideas online for healthy birthday snacks!

It can be a poster, power point presentation, diorama, etc. Projects can be brought in any time during the two weeks. Projects aren't required, but it is encouraged that children choose at least one project throughout the year. Themes are as follows:

Sept 25-Sept 29: Hot Air Balloons
Oct 2-Oct 12: Frogs and Toads
