Ms. Gonzales and Mrs. Nunn's Pre-K/K class

Ms. Gonzales "Gabby"

I am so excited to be part of this amazing classroom community. My passion and heart for youth of all ages has been my driving force for the past 18+ years. I fell in love with teacher 13 years ago and have been in the classroom ever since. I have experience working in the public, private, and charter school settings. Throughout these years, I have had the opportunity to teach in New Mexico, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Prior to teaching I ran a youth prevention and mentor program that focused on outdoor leadership and community engagement.

My greatest success and gift in life was being given the privilege of raising a beautiful daughter. My daughter graduated last year and is now playing soccer at a college in Kansas.

Besides working with kids, I am passionate about health and fitness! I LOVE the outdoors; hiking, rock climbing, camping, fishing, backpacking, etc, cooking and I am a competitive triathlete.

I believe that every student has the ability to learn and be successful given a safe and loving environment, the opportunity, tools, and resources. It is my job to provide each of those during their time with me in the classroom. I strive to get to know and build strong relationships with each of my students and families. Together we can make sure that all students needs are being met.

I look forward to getting to know each one of you and please feel free to reach out to me anytime!

I will be using both Remind and the Classroom Web page as communication platforms. Remind will be utilized for quick reminders and immediate communication. The class web page will be updated biweekly with pictures, classroom learning objectives, monthly events, related arts schedule, links to apps you can utilize at home, etc. My door is always open, so please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.

Reading and Math bags

Reading bags have now become reading and math bags. Every student now has a reading/math bag that is sent home daily. Although we are a “non” homework school, I encourage you to practice the sight words, reading, and math cards nightly. This helps reinforce concepts being taught and learned in the classroom. Students will be assessed regularly on the materials in their bags. This is to insure that students have the appropriate level of materials so they are challenged and their needs are being met.

I a excited to let you know that IGGY the frog has been found! Every Friday a different student will take home a purple bag with IGGY, the blue frog and a binder with specific directions. Every student will have an opportunity to have an amazing weekend adventure with IGGY!!

Please see attached document for a new schedule!

Teach Your Monster To Read

Our class is using this computer program as a resource to help master the first stages of reading. Each student has a 30 minute in class time slot per week to utilize this program. Students are also able to get on at home for additional practice.
