Welcome to the SVE ART website

Hello SVE students and families!

My name is Heather Armstrong and I have been the Art teacher here at Sandia Vista Elementary since 2009, with the exception of the 2018/19 school year. I have enjoyed working with all of the students that have filled the halls creating masterpieces and memories. The 2020/21 School Year will look a little different without the halls but I know this will be our greatest adventure yet, the start of a virtual school year! I am excited for the opportunity to provide learning through this virtual platform and learning how to best navigate the tools of the 21st Century! I feel like I am the student this time around so I understand how scary a new school year can feel for many...We are in this together friends and I promise we are going to do amazing things! I look forward to seeing you all either in person or online!

Here is to a great school year filled with beautiful things!

Artfully yours,

Heather Armstrong

Schedules for Hybrid and Virtual Related Arts

Information for Virtual and 4th and 5th grade Hybrid Students

Things you need to know...

Virtual students will access the curriculum for Art through their "Art" Google Classroom, it is separate from their Teachers' google classroom but already assigned to them. Students will be required to attend a 20-30 minute google meet for Art on their designated rotation day, see schedule provided. After the google meet session, students will be instructed to follow the prompts for their lesson which might include step by step instruction, videos or links to content that will be posted. Students will be asked to submit proof of completing assignments using flipgrid. Students will submit work using flipgrid starting on the Thursday of their designated rotation week. Some students may want to do this earlier, but it must be submitted by Thursday every week. Student participation is mandatory and students will receive report card grades for all related arts classes.

Occasionally, 4th and 5th grade Hybrid students will need to complete assignments from home following their in person instruction. Students will be asked to submit proof of completing assignments using flip grid. Instructions for submitting work will be posted on the Thursday of their designated rotation week. Students will have up to 3 weeks to submit work. Student participation is mandatory and students will receive report card grades for all related arts classes.
