Have you tried turning the device off and on again? Not just shutting the lid but actually powering it down?
On a Chromebook: Look along the right edge of the keyboard along the side to find the power button, press and hold to turn off.

Using a Chromebook
Most Chromebook issues can be resolved by restarting your Chromebook.
Try shutting down your Chromebook by holding down the power button for 30 seconds.
Turn it back on, and log in.
Make sure you’re going through Classlink for access to all applications.
