The goal of the Special Education Parents Advisory Council shall be to assist the Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) to ensure every child in RRISD identified with a disability/impairment is prepared and able to achieve their maximum level of academic competence and achievement, self-reliance and independence, based on their own unique abilities, so that each transitions successfully to their future and to support their families along the way.
We are the Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC), parents/guardians who volunteer some of our time to serve as a resource to fellow parents/guardians whose children are receiving special education and/or 504 services through Round Rock ISD (RRISD). We work in partnership with Round Rock Public Schools administration on matters relating to the education and safety of all students. We work to encourage understanding, respect, acceptance and inclusion of all students in an effort to improve the lives and educational outcomes of students with special needs and their families.
SEPAC provides learning opportunities for parents/guardians from a variety of resources at our luncheons and presentations. We also provide opportunities to share experiences, exchange information, learn more about challenges facing students today and to share successes along the journey.
SEPAC strives to be a positive, solution-oriented parent group dedicated to engaging parents/guardians of children receiving special education and/or 504 services for networking, sharing information, addressing concerns and cultivating understanding, respect and support of children with disabilities within RRISD.
SEPAC members are comprised of parents of children with disabilities, professionals, community representatives, and the RRISD Superintendent and Executive Director of Special Education/504, all of whom are focused on impacting the lives of children with disabilities and their families in a positive way. Council members represent the five RRISD Learning Communities in elementary and secondary levels, as well as through a broad spectrum of disabilities. In addition to Council members, there are SEPAC Campus Representatives for each school in RRISD. Campus Reps are the parent of a student receiving special education/504 services (usually on that campus) and are available as a resource for the other parents of children with special needs, whether diagnosed and receiving services or not.
