There is a $20.00 supply fee for Art I. Please make out check to McNeil High School and include driver's license number. Cash also excepted.

There is a $30.00 Studio fee for Art II- Drawing I - cash or check made out to McNeil High School with a driver's license number, please.

Art I:

Elements: Value, Line, Shape, Color, Form, Texture, Space

Principles: Movement/Rhythm, Repetition/Pattern, Emphasis, Balance, Contrast/Variety, Proportion, Unity.

Sketchbook Practice: Importance of Warm Ups (getting into art mode),

Portfolio Construction & Use: Importance of Keeping Up with Your Own Work

Line Drawing Techniques (Contour, Gesture, Blind Contour, Pressure of Line; Warm Up Drawings)

Color Wheel (Primary, Secondary, Intermediate, Complementary, Triads, Split-Complements; values, tints, shades; color mixing) Tempera Paint, Acrylic Paint, Watercolor (knowing the difference and how to use)

Art II : Drawing I

Learning how to use the different drawing materials correctly: Pencil (Hardnesses – ie. HB, 2B etc…), Colored Pencil, Inks, Pen, Marker, Watercolor, Graphite Powder, Soft and Oil Pastel.

Major emphasis on planning using thumbnails and rough drafts.
