4th Grade Performance Coming Soon!

We are in the midst of planning and preparing for your students’ FIRST musical performance at Herrington in over two years! We are so excited to share our learning and music with you and your families.

This year we are performing at the Stony Point High School Auditorium, behind SPHS (1801 Tiger Trail, Round Rock, TX 78664). Our performance will be on Tuesday, April 12th at 7:00pm.

About the Curriculum

Our Music program is based on ensuring student success through inquiry based learning, performance experiences, and other activities that are both engaging as well as informative.

In the music curriculum, students will be given the opportunity to experience and make music, as well as express themselves through singing, playing music and learning basic musical literacy. Students will be taught to appreciate and analyze music, as well as how to simply enjoy it for music's sake!

We follow the RRISD "ARRC" and teach from the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

What's the reason for having elementary music classes?

• Not because we expect you to major in music • Not because we expect you to play or sing all your life • Not so you can relax • Not so you can have fun

• BUT--so you will be human • So you will recognize beauty • So you will be sensitive • So you will have something to cling to • So you will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good--in short, more life. Of what value will it be to make a prosperous living unless we know how to live?
