About the Curriculum

Our Music program is based on ensuring student success through inquiry based learning, performance experiences, and other activities that are both engaging as well as informative.

In the music curriculum, students will be given the opportunity to experience and make music, as well as express themselves through singing, playing music and learning basic musical literacy. Students will be taught to appreciate and analyze music, as well as how to simply enjoy it for music's sake!

We follow the RRISD "ARRC" and teach from the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

What's the reason for having elementary music classes?

• Not because we expect you to major in music • Not because we expect you to play or sing all your life • Not so you can relax • Not so you can have fun

• BUT--so you will be human • So you will recognize beauty • So you will be sensitive • So you will have something to cling to • So you will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good--in short, more life. Of what value will it be to make a prosperous living unless we know how to live?

That is Why I Teach Music!

My name is Erin Holland, and this will be my 1th year teaching at Herrington Elementary!

This is also my 11th year in Round Rock ISD, and my 13th year teaching elementary music. I am so excited to meet all my new and returning students this year! :)

I'm excited to meet you all in person once again in my classroom!

I am a singer and a pianist, and I'm learning to play the ukulele. In my spare time I enjoy photography, strength training and practicing yoga and acroyoga. Over the past year I've also picked up a fascination and love for houseplants. I also am a bit of a foodie and I love to try out new food and restaurants, especially local coffee shops!

I live in Round Rock with my husband, daughter, and my rescue dog, Deco.

My favorite part about teaching is getting to know all of my students over the years, and seeing them progress as musicians! Herrington Hawks rock!
