Behavior

Students are expected to come to class each day ready to learn and actively participate across their day. I encourage students to follow the Stallion Expectations: Be safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Cooperative, and Always Do Your Best! When students follow these school expectations, myself and others take notice! Students receive star cards for showing stallion expectations. They can cash these stars in for individual rewards every Friday or they can save up for a more "expensive" reward. Students also receive whole class rewards. Anytime I or another Sommer staff member notices how on track and the spectacular choices my class are making we receive a point. Each time the students reach 25 points we celebrate with a whole class reward. We also have Fun Friday. This weekly event occurs for every student that has that has all work completed and turned in by Fun Friday time

Every Friday we recognize a student in our class that has shown exceptional Star Stallion Expectations. Star Stallion student has extra special privileges for an entire week when he/she is our Star Stallion! If students are having difficulty following our expectations, they will receive a reminder from me of what is expected. After that, I will write a a quick note in the child's planner and possibly have students fill out a reflection sheet. The student will be expected to explain with details what happened when he/she gets home. I generally will not give a second warning for an old expectation such as: working wisely during independent work time.

Please understand that most third grade incidents are typical for students this age. If there is ever a time where a student's actions require more of my attention, I'll email or call you so you understand the details and we can work together in helping your child become more successful in the classroom. I don't email or call for all disruptions since often it is a minor infraction and easily controlled. However, if you have any questions about the incident please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

FYI, Students who fight or become physical in some way, curse, or break other established school rules can receive an immediate office referral.
