I am very excited about getting to know all of my first graders and their amazing families! This year will be full of learning, experiences and of course, lots of fun!

I started my educational journey right here in Round Rock ISD, attending Caraway Elementary, Canyon Vista Middle School, and Westwood High School. After graduating from high school, I went to Texas A&M University. I loved my experience at A&M and in College Station, but I knew that I wanted to teach in the same community that originally inspired my teaching dream, so I returned home. I began my career in education teaching fourth grade at Laurel Mountain Elementary and have also taught second and third grades at Caraway Elementary. Here at Canyon Creek, I have taught both second and fourth grade, but I am excited to be teaching first grade this year!

This is my nineteenth year to teach and my fifth year at Canyon Creek Elementary. I stayed home with my daughter the past two years, but I am so thankful to be back doing what I love at a place that is near to my heart.  I am excited to be a part of this learning community and to be your child's teacher this year!

I have a kindergarten daughter named Blake who will be in kindergarten and a yellow lab dog named June Carter. You will hear lots of stories about those two! I love to spend time with my family, shopping, and traveling. We love to swim, go out to eat, travel, and spend time with friends and family. Between soccer, dance, and gymnastics, Blake keeps us busy!

I truly believe that I have the best profession in the world! I love coming to work each day to learn and laugh with my students. I hope that your child will experience the same excitement about first grade.

My educational philosophy stems from the fact that I believe all children can learn. I believe that each child is unique and that their differences should be celebrated. I know that all children learn in different ways and that my task is to meet the needs of all students. I believe that all children have a voice and a right to be heard. My hope is that my students will walk out of my classroom at the end of the year with an appreciation for other people and the world, with self-confidence, with an enriched mind, and with a love for learning. Ultimately, I want all of my students to become independent thinkers who strive to add creativity and new ideas to all areas of their lives.

I consider teaching to be a reward and a gift, and I am excited to share this year with you. Parents, I know that you are entrusting me with your most precious gift--and I thank you for that privilege. This year will be a year of wonderful memories and success stories! As a team, we will accomplish great things!

Welcome to first grade!
