Mr. Koenig's Music Class

Mr k's music vision

My personal vision for our Berkman musicians is as follows:

Berkman student musicians place Singing First in an effort to achieve musical unity, express feelings, and share a hopeful and positive message.

Berkman singers become experts in blend, balance, and tone in order to share their message with those in their school, their community, and beyond.

That first part, Singing First is the most important part, and the part that all Bees will be able to articulate, understand, and do. So get ready for the best year ever at Berkman Elementary!

About Mr. Koenig

This year marks my nineteenth year of teaching music! I know what you are thinking, I don't look THAT old!

I have taught students at all levels, from Kindergarten through the college level. I have been a high school band director, a choir teacher, a music theory instructor, and a music history instructor.

Not only have I spent much of my career in teaching, but I also perform. I am a Sergeant First Class in the 36th Infantry Division Band of the Texas Army National Guard, where I play the trumpet, conduct, and train the marching band. You can see photos and videos of the 36th ID Band at lonestarband.org

My wife, Jennifer is an Arts Integration Specialist at Wells Branch Elementary, and is a wonderful baker, painter, and mother :-)

We live nearby with our two girls, Lorelai and Cora. We try to keep our cats and dog fed and entertained. When we're not at home, you might find us out on the hiking trails, at a soccer game, or enjoying some great Tex-mex food at our favorite local restaurants.
