About the CRHS French Program

Cedar Ridge offers lower level and advanced level options for French, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses. In addition to learning a new language, students that take advanced language courses can potentially receive college credits by successfully passing the AP exam or CLEP test!

French courses at Cedar Ridge emphasize proficiency - meaning that students will be able to USE the language by communicating through speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Classes are conducted mostly in French, but students receive a lot of support to help them to understand. We also learn about the global community by studying the cultures of French-speaking countries and making connections with students' own cultures. Learning a new language can be challenging, but it can also be fun, rewarding, and very useful!

About Madame Sellars

Bonjour! I'm excited to return to Cedar Ridge this year! This will be my 11th year teaching. I have previously taught at Westwood High School as well as in Denton ISD. I received my Bachelor of Arts in French and Secondary Education from the University of Texas, and a Master of Education from Tarleton State University.

My journey into teaching French started when I had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program in Épinal, France at the age of 10. I loved the experience and continued to study French throughout high school and college. I studied abroad at the Université de Caen during college, in the lovely Normandy region of France.

I enjoy sharing the rich cultures of French-speaking countries and, of course, the beautiful French language.
