Patsy Sommer Elementary welcomes you back to the 2017-2018 school year!
How exciting to begin Third Grade!! We're going to have a great year!
My name is Liliana McSween, and I am so excited to teach third grade this year.
A little about me: I've lived in Northern California most of my life and a short time on the Big Island of Hawaii. Texas has been a wonderful change for me, and I am enjoying every minute of it.
I'm married to a wonderful man and have three children. The youngest is a junior this year, and the oldest have flown the nest to pursue their passions in music, accounting, and art.
I attended Lamar University where I earned my master's in School Counseling. I am certified for school counseling (grades ECE-12), Gifted and Talented, and English as a Second Language I taught 4th grade for 8 years before coming to Patsy Sommer in 2015. I'm grateful that I get to teach third grade again this year.
I am passionate about education and being the best teacher I can be. I accomplish that by challenging my students academically and through character building. Providing intellectual conversations that push them to think creatively and "outside of the box" is exciting and rewarding. Instructing them to own their thinking and be responsible for reaching the goals they've set for themselves is also important. I guide them to become effective problem finders/solvers, because I want to prepare them for higher education and beyond.
