McNeil High School
Meet the Dance Faculty
Angel Scrudder was born and raised in Round Rock, Texas. She signed up for a dance class at Cedar Valley Middle School and found her passion in life. She took classes at many different studios in the area with her home studio being Dance eMotions. During her high school career, Angel was a three year member of the McNeil Majestics and served as a two year social officer.
Angel continued her education at Kilgore College where she was a member of the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes. She was a member of the elite team, Swingsters, was selected as a soloist and an ensemble performer for two consecutive years. While on the Rangerettes, Angel performed around the nation at the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day parade, the Indy 500, Gaylord Texan, Stubb’s BBQ, Stamford Connecticut parade, and the Cotton Bowl. After her time at Kilgore, Angel finished up her Dance Education degree at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.
Mrs. Scrudder is a senior staff member of Crowd Pleasers Dance Company where she has taught dance/drill teams all over Texas, helps administer contests, and is a senior administer for summer camps.
Angel began her teaching career at Clear Brook High School in Friendswood, TX and was the Assistant Director for the Celebrities for two years. Feeling the need to go back home, Mrs. Scrudder became the Assistant Director of the Westwood SunDancers, Head Director of Warrior Pride Dance Team and taught Jazz and Ballet in the Fine Art Academy at Westwood High School for four years
Mrs. Scrudder is thrilled to be back “home” with the Majestics, where her love of dance and teaching began.
Alexandra Starnes began dancing at the age of six at Shirley McPhail School of Dance in Austin. Her first teacher Ms. Allison introduced her to the world of dance that has opened up so many doors for her throughout her adult life. She was a member of SMSD’S Performing Troupe for several years where she got to perform at various places all over the U.S. It was during her time at SMSD where she was awarded the Greg Russell Scholarship at Encore as well as a runner up for a TATD scholarship.
When Mrs. Starnes was a freshman in high school, she auditioned to become a McNeil Majestic where she danced on the drill team for three years. She served her junior year as Major and was privileged enough to serve her senior year as Colonel. It was during this time that her love and passion for dance really evolved.
After she graduated from McNeil High School, Mrs. Starnes became a University of Texas Roustabout, a pre-professional dance company based out of UT. In May of 2011 she decided to audition for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, a dream of hers since she was young girl. Out of the hundreds of women that auditioned and two grueling months of training camp, Mrs. Starnes was one of the 17 young women selected that year to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. After cheering for two amazing years, she attended Texas State University to receive her BFA in Dance to become a drill team director and dance educator. Mrs. Starnes is also the owner and Director of the National League of Junior Cotillions Travis County Chapters.
Mrs. Starnes is thrilled to be “home” at McNeil High School.
