Mrs. Lau
6th grade Math
Hello,
Welcome!! My name is Vivian Lau. I teach 6th grade on-level and Accelerated Math this year. This is my 13th year of teaching. I have worked in Houston ISD, two private schools, and this is my 5th year at Canyon Vista Middle School. Here are some fun facts about me:
I earned my degrees in Biology and Asian Studies from UT Austin and received my M. Ed from UNT. And most recently I just finished a E-Learning certificate from the University of Minnesota.
My hobbies are reading, making music, travel and photography. I have traveled to 11 different countries and taught English in Thailand, Bolivia and Taiwan.
I was born in Taiwan and immigrated to Houston when I was 14.
My favorite subjects growing up were writing and reading, but for some reason my best subjects were mathematics and physics.
I am married to my wonderful husband Cal. We have 3 amazing kiddos and one pup named Pip.
I am passionate about teaching and mentoring young people, and I am so excited to teach our awesome 6th-graders.
