Meet Our 8th Grade Math Team!
I have been teaching math at Hernandez for 5 years. I am the department head and I teach Algebra, Geometry, and 8th grade on level math. Your child may have had me in the past as I have also taught 6th grade Tag, 7th grade on level, and 7th grade accelerated. Prior to teaching at HeMS, I did corporate education 10 years, and prior to that I did student teaching in 1st and 3rd grade classes here in Round Rock ISD. I am blessed with an amazing husband, a 12 year old son, and an 1 year old daughter. Email is always the best way to get a hold of me. I look forward to an amazing year, and Goooooooo Bulldogs!!!!
Hi, I'm Ms. Maxie and this is my 2nd year as a math educator. I graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors in Education and Black Studies. When you visit my class you can expect to hear music and see students having fun while learning math. I believe that that every student can have positive relationship with math, its my job to help them discover it. I know that math a subject that bring all different kinds of people together and that is the culture I cultivate in my classroom. Students can expect to have fun, be risk-takers, make mistakes, and be empowered to believe in themselves.
Hi, I am Ms. O’Connor I have been a middle school math teacher for 5 years and before teaching I was a teacher assistant for 2 year. I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelors in Mathematics. I love math because I love to problem solve. I know some people do not have strong math skills, but this is why I became a math teacher. I enjoy working with students to help them become better in math and hopefully one day they will enjoy math as much as I do. I am really excited to be working a Hernandez Middle School this year because I have only heard great things about the students and parents. If you would like to get intouch with me please email.
I graduated from High Point University (NC) with a Business & Marketing degree. After 25 years in corporate America, I decided to teach. That was 9 years ago and I'm still thrilled to observe and be a part of students growth and development. Two of my favorite activities are watching movies and TV and traveling. Each trip, whether short or long, gives me a change of scenery and the opportunity to sample different foods. In my math class students will discover that there is a secret math genius hiding inside of them who can solve complex problems. .
This is my 17th year to teach. I teach math because I enjoy working with numbers. I have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Multidisciplinary Studies at Texas Tech University. I have a master's degree in Education in Guidance and Counseling at Angelo State University. The students will be doing a warm up of basic skills each day as they come into the classroom, and working on specific basic skills needed to be successful in their regular math class in 8th grade. We will do hands on activities, stations, scavenger hunts, one on one tutoring sessions with the teacher, and help with classwork assigned to them in their regular math classroom. I love to travel and watch movies with my family.
