IB Community Project Exhibition

(2020-2021)

Hernandez Middle School - 8th grade

IB Mission Statement

"The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. "

The 8th Grade Community Project is an independent student project. It is a requirement of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB).

THE PURPOSE:

Students evaluate and apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired throughout their years at Hernandez Middle School by engaging with their community to make it a better place.

Students generate new insights and develop deeper understandings of the world in which they live through an in-depth investigation, and communicate their findings to teachers and peers.

Each student used the IB Design Cycle to create and execute the plan for their project (there are four phases to the project).

o A – Inquire and Analyze (December/ January)

o B – Develop Ideas (January)

o C – Create the Solution (February)

o D – Evaluate/ Reflect (March-April)
