DWE Science Fair
Every year Deep Wood Elementary hosts a campus-wide Science Fair. This year it will be held on November 30, 2017.
Every student in grades K-5 is encouraged to enter a project. Projects can include collections, exhibits/demonstrations, or experiments. We encourage 4th and 5th grade students to complete either a demonstration or an experiment.
All projects will be brought to school the morning of November 30th, and judged during the day. Guidelines are provided for the types of projects appropriate to each grade level. There will be an evening exhibition for all parents and students, and the ribbons will be on the projects at that time.
Each child entering the science fair will receive a ribbon and a certificate. Several first place winners in each grade from 3rd-5th will qualify to compete in the Austin Energy Regional Science, held in February 2018.
Here are some very important things to remember for our Science Fair:
- Rules, regulations, guidelines, forms, and helpful information will be posted on the Deep Wood website. If you don’t know where to start, start there!
- Science Fair backboards can be purchased through DWE. This is not a required purchase; it is for your convenience only. Click here for backboard order form.
- Projects will be judged during the school day on November 30th from 8 am – 2 pm. Judging areas will be CLOSED to everyone but the judges during this time. Students will be called from class to explain their projects.
- There will be an “Exhibition Night”! Projects will stay after school on the 30th. Parents are encouraged to come and view all the projects that night from 6:00-7:00. Projects can be taken home at that time.
Start now! Time flies by!
Thank you for taking the time to assist your child with the wonderful experience of bringing science into your home. We look forward to seeing your child’s project!
