Attendance Policies and Procedures for All Student Absences

District requires that an absence note be provided to the campus attendance office when a student returns to school from any  absence.  There is a bin on the outside wall of the attendance office in the Jag Lobby for students to drop absence notes.

Absence documentation is required to the attendance office no later than 5 days after the student's return from an absence and not before the absence ends.   A note turned in past 5 days of student’s return will be considered late but is still required to possibly avoid further truancy action.  Late notes will remain coded as unexcused.

Absence notes should be from the parent/guardian and/or a medical provider if seen. Note should include the student's name, specific absence date(s) and reason for the absence.  District excuses student sickness and death in the immediate family.

It is not necessary to call the school and report an absence.  Students can communicate with their teachers and keep up with their assignments through Schoology.

Please direct all attendance correspondence to the attendance office only. Please do not contact or send attendance notes for student absences to teachers or the school nurse.

If you are not currently set up with Home Access (HAC), please contact our campus to obtain this very helpful and informative tool.  Home Access will allow you to see your student’s attendance along with other pertinent information.  If you receive an automated phone call in the evening stating an absence was incurred and you believe it to be an error, you need to contact the "teacher of record" who marked the absence for correction and/or clarification the following day.

Filling out district covid reporting is recommended, but does not act as a campus absence note, nor does signing a student in or out in the front lobby. If you receive a truancy letter and have any questions, please contact your student’s grade level principal.
