I have a student already enrolled in Denver Public Schools.

Step 1: Learn about school choice.

School choice takes place in two rounds. Round 1 is Jan. 14-Feb. 15. Round 2 is April -August 30. Families can rank up to 12 choices for their schools. Round 2 is on a first come first serve basis so apply today!

Families who submit an application will be added to the waitlist of schools and called when space is available.

Step 2: Determine what paperwork you need to submit.

If you are new to Denver Public schools, all families will need to submit proof of address and proof of age. Suggested documents are:

  • Current utility bill with service address; valid rental/lease agreement; warranty deed; current mortgage statement; property tax notice; or signed contract stating you name, closing date, and property address

  • Birth certificate, baptismal record, hospital record with official signature; passport; or I-94

PreK Scholars also need to submit proof of income. Suggested documents are:

  • 30 consecutive days of paycheck stubs;

  • 2020 W-2; or

  • Letter from employer on company letterhead that states hours worked and pay rate.

  • If applicable, proof of non-work income (TANF, food stamps, child support, etc.).


Step 3: Log-in to school choice using your parent portal account.

Go to this website and use your parent portal username and password to log-in.

When you're complete you will receive a text or email confirmation! Make sure you check you've received this to know you're done applying!


If you don't have access to a camera or printer to upload your documents you can send them to our campuses for support. Please label the email "Scholar First and Last Name Application Upload SY22" i.e. Joe Saavedra Application Upload SY22. If you know your scholar's ID # please include it in the body of the email.

*If we do not receive the email in this format we will not be able to support with uploading your documents.
