My name is Peyton Wilhelmi (formerly Rotolo) & I am so excited to be your child's teacher! This is my fourth year teaching at Rockton Grade School, the school that I grew up in myself. I taught first grade for two years and this will be my second year teaching 2nd grade. I attended Illinois State University to receive my degree in Elementary Education and I am currently working on completing my Master's in Curriculum & Instruction.
I was just married this summer to my husband, Nathan. We also have a beautiful one-year-old named Mia. Outside of teaching, I spend most of my time with my family, going on new adventures, and relaxing (at Target).
I created our classroom site as a portal for parents to find information about our class and school, as well as stay up to date using our digital newsletter, classroom calendar, contact information, and parent resources.
Some of my favorites!
Sport - Soccer
Football Team - Green Bay Packers
Baseball Team - Chicago Cubs
Book - The Magic Treehouse Series
We are a nut-free classroom - please help to keep all of our friends safe by sending peanut free snacks each day. Thank you!
Superkids Backpack Pages
2nd grade uses the Superkids backpack pages as a weekly homework packet to practice reading fluency and spelling patterns. The packets will be sent home each Friday and due by the following Friday. These packets will help your child prepare for weekly spelling tests that are taken each Friday.
READ!
This is the #1 thing you can do to help your child become a better reader. Make it fun! Let your child pick books they love, read to them, take turns, use silly voices, set aside a special time for this DAILY. It is a great thing to do to settle down before bed. It really does make a HUGE difference in your child’s progress.
Practice Math Facts
There are a lot of fun websites and apps to do this as well as good old-fashioned flashcards! I’ll be sending home login info for Reflex, a math fact fluency website that would be great to regularly play at home.
Spend time as a family & play outside when you can!
If there is a reasonable need for your child to possess a cell phone or smartwatch at school, please contact me to receive the Cell Phones & Electronic Devices Permission Form. This form must be completed, signed, and filed with our administration. After the form is completed, students must keep phones/watches in their backpacks turned off until the end of the school day. Thank you for your understanding!

Establishing rules – The students and I will work together to name individual goals for the year and establish rules that will help everyone reach those goals. Those goals will be tracked and acknowledged using Class Dojo. We also follow the Whole Brain Teaching expectations.
Brain breaks – Quick whole group activities that are used as breaks in our learning.
Quiet time – A brief, purposeful relaxed time of transition.
I will always keep you informed of your child’s behavior through Class Dojo, emails, and phone calls.
Please send your child to school each day with a snack as we will have a dedicated safe snack time.
Allergy alert! We are a nut-free classroom. Please send snacks that do not contain nuts.
Please send your child with a water bottle to fill at our automatic drinking fountains!
You are allowed to send in birthday treats to celebrate your child's big day this school year!
Please use store-bought items, preferably individually wrapped.
Please check your child's take-home folder every night for any homework, notes, or announcements. It will be your child’s responsibility to bring back anything that needs to be signed or returned.
You can help a lot by reinforcing skills of what we are learning at home. By looking at what your child brings home and discussing it, you will have a very good idea of your child’s achievement on a daily basis.
For any transportation changes please contact the office before 1:00 PM

When you send money to school for anything, please be sure to put it in an envelope that has your child’s name, teacher’s name, and what the money is for clearly stated on the outside. This will prevent confusion.
You may also pay for lunch balances online via TeacherEase.
