ROCKLAND- Mr. Zackary Taylor is a substitute teacher at RHS, and there are a lot of things people could know about him.
Mr. Taylor describes himself as “more reserved” when he first communicates with students “but once I get to know the person I open up a lot more, however, normally I’m pretty friendly.”
One thing about Mr. Taylor is that he has similar interests as students nowadays. Mr. Taylor is interested in a board game called Warhammer, a miniature war game.
He also loves football, which he used to play in high school.
During his free time, Mr. Taylor says that “I try to catch up on some TV shows I watch or try to read a book when I can. A portion of my free time is dedicated to spending time with my friends playing Dungeons and Dragons.”
Mr. Taylor is from Whitman, and graduated from Whitman-Hanson Highschool in 2016. He then graduated from Bridgewater University in the winter of 2021, majoring in history and secondary education.
Mr. Taylor was a substitute teacher for Plymouth Public Schools. Before working for Plymouth, he was a lifeguard at the Bridgewater YMCA.
Freshman Katharine Maynard Da-Silva said, “I think he’s great. He’s a very attentive sub, and is very laid back. He also provides support for students when it’s needed.”
One thing Maynard Da-Silva finds interestingly funny about Mr. Taylor is his name. “He has the same name as the 12th United States president.”
Freshman Hayden Hatch says, “I think he is a really great substitute, really chill and likable person. He isn’t that awkward and doesn’t seem nervous, he is pretty funny and tries to get you to know him as a person.”
Many students like Mr. Taylor and find him easy to talk to and fun. He introduces himself well and really leaves an impression.
“My favorite memory of Mr. Taylor, when he was a substitute for my class, was when he recommended me and my friends some funny movies to watch. I found them hilarious! He is a great substitute and he introduces himself to get you to know him better, which is something you don’t see often.”
