ROCKLAND- This year's “Rockland Got Talent” is open to all students instead of the band and chorus' Broadway Night which was held in previous years.
“Rockland’s Got Talent” will be open for all students and staff to present any secret or already exposed talent.
Sign-ups will begin next week, preview auditions will be held on April 8th, and the show will be on Thursday, April 25 at 7 p.m.
After the success of the recent musical Mamma Mia, and some scheduling conflicts, a talent show open to all students and staff was proposed.
Music Department Chair, Mr. John Piazza, said, “This idea of a variety show was the collaborative effort of the music department and WRPS. Any good show needs a host, so we asked “DJ” Rocco Correia if he would be interested in hosting the show. It was Correia who thought of turning the variety show idea into a spin-off of the popular show, “America’s Got Talent.”
Whoever decides to sign up individually or in a group has to sign up for the preview audition, and judges will choose the best ten acts to showcase in “Rockland’s Best Talent."
On the day of the competition, there will be judges and prizes for the winners.
Rockland’s Got Talent will be “a show that will showcase the many talents of our entire student body. It’s an opportunity for friends and staff to get together, show off their talents, and have a good time. We hope that this show will become one of the highlights of every year and something our students and staff will remember for years,” said Mr. Piazza.
Anyone interested can sign up for the talent show, or be in the audience to support students and staff, maybe seeing some hidden talents.
