ROCKLAND- The softball team is setting a new tone with a new coach, and new field.
Due to the construction behind the new Phelps Elementary School, the team has been playing their games at the Spring Street fields this season.
Math teacher Mr. Nick Liquori is the coach of the softball team. They play two or sometimes three games a week.
Currently, they have a record of 3-7, with nine games left in the season.
The team is made up of mostly underclassmen, with just two seniors, captains Lexie McKenna, and Hailey Christianson.
He said his team goal is to get better every day and win the tournament.
He said to win they have to win the season they have to win four teams' non-league games.
Christianson says Mr. Liquori is her favorite coach. They do more practice now which has a good impact on their team.
She says she has been playing for the last eight years and she learns from her mistakes, and says this year is better as compared to last year because of the coach and how they do longer practices.
Savannah Milso is a sophomore at Rockland High School. She says she has been playing softball for the last three years.
Milso says her favorite spot to play is left field. She says her personal goal for softball is to become more confident as a batter.
"The season is going well so far, there is definitely room for improvement but having a new coach has definitely brought out a better team as a whole," said junior Chelsea Amaral.
