ROCKLAND - Rockland High school seniors are preparing for the end of their high school career.
The Rockland seniors' last day is on May 19 and graduation takes place on May 30.
“In preparation for graduation, I am really just focusing on making the most memories with my friends before we all go our separate ways,” stated senior Lily MacDonald.
Seniors begin the process of looking for colleges they will attend as well as other options, such as the military.
“After high school, I plan to attend Suffolk University to study international relations with a minor in either science or economics. And hopefully will be able to attend Suffolk Law following getting an undergraduate degree,” described senior Nicole Cedrone.
All seniors learn about graduation at the beginning of the year, allowing them to be prepared.
“To help prepare students for graduation, we have a few assemblies throughout the year so that seniors really know what's expected and also what's to come for their senior year. I think helping them know what lies ahead helps them prepare for it best. So in the beginning of the year, we talk about ordering caps and gowns. We talk about graduation itself. What day is it, what time is it. So, seniors already know that well in advance,” stated guidance counselor, Mrs. Casey Levesque.
In the fall, senior girls competed against junior girls in powder puff, and the activities continue this spring with senior sunrise, the senior issues program, the awards banquet, the senior cookout, and prom.
“I think I’m most excited for the senior cookout because we can all just hang out and enjoy our last days at RHS,” said Cedrone.
The seniors also get visits from different colleges, such as Bridgewater State University and Massasoit, and they get to learn about the specific colleges.
