ROCKLAND - Rockland’s annual Project Pumpkin will be back on Saturday, October 28th.
The event will go from 2-4:30 p.m., winding a path of trick or treating through the middle and high school hallways.
The cost is $7 per child, $5 with nonperishable canned goods donations, and there is a $10 maximum for a family.
Project Pumpkin is an event that the Student Council has hosted for many years. Students volunteer to set up tables in the hallways, each to their own theme, and pass out candy to townspeople. This event sees hundreds of kids looking to trick or treat.
Like many years past, this event will be led by Mrs. Kirsten Bartoloni and the SGC.
Mrs. Bartoloni says, “I love that Project Pumpkin gives parents in our community a Trick or Treating alternative…some parents opt out of trick or treating on school nights and instead bring their children to our event.”
This event will take place through both the middle school and the high school from 2 to 4:30 in the afternoon.
There are some new clubs that are participating in this year’s event. Both the National Honor Society and the Women’s Empowerment Club have been invited to host activities in the gym.
These activities will include a moonwalk, games, a photo booth, crafting, balloons, and face painting.
Ms. Kaitlyn Diver, advisor of the Women’s Empowerment Club, is excited to partake in her first Project Pumpkin.
“Women's Empowerment Club is going to run a crafting table in the RMS gym where we will have cut-out pumpkins that kids who attend can color and decorate. We will also be selling little goodie bags that have a bracelet that say Empowerment as well as a few stickers to raise money for women's organizations and future club fundraisers,” Diver said.
This event takes place throughout several locations in the Rogers Middle School and the Rockland High School. These places include the middle school gym, the eighth-grade hallway, and multiple hallways in the high school.
This event is still currently looking for students to help inside the RMS gym, as well as a scare in the Haunted Hallway. Volunteers will earn hours of community service for their participation in the event, as well as setting up and cleaning when the day is over.
