ROCKLAND- On Monday, November 20, at 6 pm, the senior girls who were defeated last year, will take on the junior girls as they compete to win the annual Powder Puff Girls Football game in Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
Senior Keegan Butler, the Senior Class Head Coach said, “I think we can beat the juniors. It's going to come down to heart."
Junior Jax Leduc, the Junior Head Coach, thinks his team will blow them out and it won't be close.
Leduc said, “I think absolutely without a shadow of a doubt, we are gonna destroy the seniors. My score prediction is 49-6.”
Butler's gameplan is unorthodox and he is confident in his team.
Butler said, “Our game plan is still to throw up the ball and hope someone catches it. But we do have some fast backs, we have Kyra Ferraro and Grace Brundige, a track all-star. Actually, she is [really] fast, she did a spin move in practice and had the juniors stumbling.”
Leduc is coaching his team with passion and the way he gets his plays is very different.
Leduc said, “You know we got a couple of different looks out there. We are looking at some wildcat, if you go on the Madden wiki database and go to the 2014 Panthers playbook that is where we get most of our offense.”
Butler has one quarterback he trusts right now.
Butler said, “Our quarterback is Emily Tsiantoulas, We might have some subs in but right now our quarterback is Emily”.
Butler is not the only coach. He has depth at his coaching position with some of the football team seniors., including Thomas Sidahmed, Sam De Souza, Tyler Boehner and Jordan Depina.
The juniors have a good game plan and having multiple quarterbacks could help them win.
Leduc explained, “We got a couple of different looks, but we are looking at junior quarterback Riley Freeman. She has a bazooka and we are also looking at Janiya Jai, she might get in there with wildcat Emily”.
The coaching staff for the juniors all consists of players from the football team members juniors Walid Assour, Dom White, Eli Nassif, and Brandon Comeau.
Leduc is coaching his team up to the best of his abilities and they are all in check with the team.
Leduc said, “Practice has been running smooth. Everyone knows their position and everyone knows their role.” Leduc also energetically stated, “we have only winners, we are athlete students not student athletes!”
A bold statement from Leduc that could backfire on him if they don't win but he is very confident in his team.
Leduc said, “The Rockland Junior class is going to come out here and I think it is going to be a stunning performance. We are going to roast the senior class by like 75. I think great coaches and great players were all bought in the system and I think it's going to be a triumphant win for the junior class and will be back next year”.
