ROCKLAND- The JV Girls Lacrosse coaching position opened up a few weeks before heading into the season.
The position was filled less than a week before the kick-off of the spring season by none other than a Rockland High School Alumni, as Madison Blonde class of 2019, stepped up to fill the position.
The position opened when former JV Girls Lacrosse coach Emily Beatrice accepted the Girls Lacrosse Head Coaching position a few minutes down the road at Abington High School.
Mr. Dan Kimball said, “I am extremely confident with her stepping into a coaching position, she had a great career here at Rockland High School, she has a great personality and I think she is a perfect fit.”
While at Rockland High, Blonde was an active member of her class, competing in three varsity sports (soccer, basketball, and lacrosse). Blonde served as her class secretary for student government and graduated as a member of the National Honor Society.
Blonde achieved great accomplishments during her lacrosse career, South Shore League All-Star, Boston Globe Player of the Week, and surpassing 200 goals.
Blonde attended the University of New Haven after graduating from RHS, where she pursued a career in Forensic Science and Biology, while also continuing her athletic career, playing soccer at the Division II level.
Blonde now works as a pathology assistant at Inform Diagnostics, while also coaching RHS girls lacrosse.
Blonde said, “My favorite parts of my four years at RHS were the tournament games I got to play in for all of these sports, especially being on the first Rockland girl's lacrosse team to make it into the tournament."
