ROCKLAND - Savannah Milso was crowned Miss. Rockland 2024 at the Homecoming Football game on Friday, October 18.
This year’s other nominees were seniors Jessica Gillooly, Luciana Burns, Mia Razdik, Melia Olenik, and Emilee Dunham.
Miss Rockland is a tradition at Rockland High that has existed at this school since it was built In 1957. Prior to the pandemic, the nominees were voted by teachers and then the winner voted by the senior class. Since 2021, nominations and final votes are all done by the senior class.
Nominees are supposed to be strong representations of the school’s Bulldog values and be well-rounded, academically motivated, and role model for their peers.
Each nominee is introduced at the game with their families and Miss Rockland is crowned at halftime of the game.
Ms. Rockland will receive privileges that no other student has, including getting a parking spot in the front row of the student lot and riding in the Veteran’s Day Parade.
All the girls were honored and excited about the fact they were nominated for Miss Rockland.
Gillooly believes it is nice to be part of a Rockland tradition, and said,, “I think Miss Rockland is a really cute tradition that brings girls together.”
Another nominee, Luciana Burns said, “Being nominated is an honor and makes me feel so happy that my class would nominate me!”
Savannah Milso thinks an ideal Miss Rockland should be “kind, compassionate, and dedicated.”
Mia Razdik mentioned that she was super excited about Ms. Rockland and said, “The most exciting thing about being named Ms. Rockland is that my classmates voted for me."
