ROCKLAND- Mr. Jared Lordi joined the staff of Rockland High School as a full-time teacher this past fall.
Although he grew up in Rockland, his parents sent him to Cardinal Spellman High School. He had played youth sports including football and basketball, and Mr. Liquori was one of his coaches.
Mr. Lordi previously worked as a substitute teacher in the middle school, and then he came to the high school last spring.
Mr. Lordi got his degree in history from Bridgewater State University after taking some time after high school to work in real estate.
Mr. Lordi said his favorite part of RHS is the kid is awesome and the staff has been so welcoming. He loves working for Dr. Harrison.
He said his favorite thing about Rockland is “How tight-knit the community is. My peers have been so incredibly welcoming and kind to me and have offered their advice and expertise. The kids have been generally fantastic too, and I've built some great relationships here.”
One of the reasons Mr. Lordi said he wanted to be a teacher is because teachers and coaches have an impact on his life so he trying to return the favor.
Mr. Lordi said, “My favorite class to teach this year has been Intro to Business- the kids seem to really enjoy it and learn so, so much and get to do a project where they create their own business plans... it really allows them to be creative and create a business around something that they are passionate about!”
Ms. Kristi Jones feels good to have another new teacher in her hallway.
She said, “He is a great person. So good at building friendly relations.”
According to Ms. Jones, the courses Mr. Lordi is teaching will be helpful for students and because they are new courses, it’s a great opportunity for the students.
Ms. Jones said, “As a new teacher, he is doing a great job. It will always take a time to build a report but he has a great start.”
Brian Farah, a senior who is taking a business class from Mr.Lordi, said he is planning to study business in college. Mr. Lordi's class helps him to understand business.
Farah said he understands Mr. Lordi well. He likes the way he teaches and the course he is taking with Mr. Lordi gives him an opportunity to learn about business which will help him in college.
Mr. Lordi got married to his wife last year, and in his free time, he said, “I enjoy watching sports, coaching football, and playing with my cats. I also take a bath EVERY SINGLE DAY. I am also a big gamer and play a variety of games on PS4 and PC.”
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Mr. Lordi attended Rockland High School for one year. He did not, but attended Cardinal Spellman for all four years after attending Rockland elementary and middle school.
