ROCKLAND- Two staff members, Mr. Jared Lordi and Ms. Chelsea Savage, each welcomed their babies into the Rockland community.
Mr. Lordi, business teacher, and his wife introduced Dante Xavier Lordi at 6:10 a.m. on May 13, weighing 7 pounds and 6 ounces.
Mr. Lordi is “psyched” to be a father and can’t wait to watch him grow up and achieve all of his firsts.
Delivery went on for 26+ hours, and Mr. Lordi said, “Before he was born, I was a nervous wreck and just trying to be there for Mrs. Lordi. It was an incredibly powerful experience.”
When he was born, Mr. Lordi pointed out, “[I cried] a handful during labor and I think I cried louder than the baby.”
His favorite part so far has been just holding Dante, and is super proud of how Dante is able to calm right down when he holds him tight.
Watching Dante grow up, Mr. Lordi is excited to see who he becomes and says that lots of other people expect him to be an athlete just like him and his wife.
Before leaving school, he assigned projects in his classes for students to complete during his absence. “I’ve been open all year that I’d be going out, so there are no surprises!” Mr. Lordi added.
After returning to school, in order to balance teaching and being a new dad, Mr. Lordi plans to take a nap during class like some of his lazy seniors do.
Also, biology teacher, Ms. Savage, and her husband introduced Reagan Skye on May 3, weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces.
Ms. Savage’s favorite part about Reagan is “getting to spend time as a family and watching her already starting to grow.”
Reagan is two weeks old now and has been hard to keep down for a night. Ms. Savage’s biggest struggle is trying to get enough sleep now.
Before leaving, her students were able to meet the long-term sub, Rockland alum Ms. Katie McGuirk, who she believes was able to help ease the transition.
