ROCKLAND- People are gearing up for the Halloween season, and they’re “creepin’ it real” with their Halloween traditions before October 31.
Halloween, a festive holiday on October 31, is widely celebrated throughout the United States. The holiday includes many activities, such as bobbing for apples, pumpkin carving, and, possibly, the most famous, trick-or-treating.
The Veritas surveyed people to see what their Halloween traditions look like.
Pia Dudley, a Sophomore at Rockland High School, said, “I usually go trick-or-treating with my family and last year I went with some of my friends.”
Dudley, a Halloween enjoyer, explains their opinion on decorations.
“Honestly, funny decorations, because I usually have a 5-year-old with me”, explained Dudley.
Surveys explained that about 60% of surveyed people enjoy funny decorations, while 40% enjoy scary decorations.
Speaking of scary, we asked what people thought was the most terrifying costume someone could wear. 44.4% of people said a clown and the runner-ups are Oogie Boogie and Michael Meyers, both at 4.4%.
Now onto the real reason most people celebrate Halloween, candy.
According to a student survey, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups is the most popular candy. The least popular candy was candy corn.
Out of all the people surveyed, 35.5% were going to go trick or treating.
Mackenzie McManus, a senior, says she “was a black cat for like three years in a row”
The teachers are having a costume contest, so be on the lookout for “ghoul” costumes.
