4th Grade News
What We Are Learning
This week, we will explore more in depth with bar graphs and begin working with line graphs. Their test will be on Tuesday, October 30. They are encouraged to work on these skills at home with IXL and focus on skills J.1 - J.5.
Reflex Math is a great tool for students to use to practice their multiplication skills. This will give them a head start on upcoming lessons on this topic. They are welcome to practice this at any time!
Reading improves with reading, so please have your child read at least 20 minutes per night! Please encourage this to become a part of their daily routine. If your child decides to bring home the book from their reading group, feel free to ask them questions about the reading. We have comprehension tests every Friday.
*This week, Reading Tests
Students are to complete 1 word study activity each week. They should also complete a pretest before Friday to prepare for the test. I will provide opportunities during the week for additional practice.
As a reminder, students will receive a 75% for word study homework if they do not show an activity and pretest on Friday. They will receive a 50% if I receive nothing.
We will continue exploring Jamestown this week. The students will learn about why explorers decided to settle in Virginia and the impact Captain John Smith had on their settlement. They will also begin planning for a book they will be creating!
We will continue Science after Jamestown.
