Welcome to Sixth Grade Language Arts!
My name is Cassie Korzendorfer and I am excited to work with you in my seventh year at Rockford Middle School - Center for Environmental Studies. I grew up in Osseo - Maple Grove, MN and received my Bachelor's degree in Communication Arts & Literature, grades 5-12, from St. Cloud State University and Monash University. Before finding RMS-CES, I taught two years of seventh grade Reading at Explorer Middle School in AZ as well as eight years of Language Arts, grades 5-8, at New London - Spicer Middle School in MN and three years of Language Arts, grades 6-8, at Carlton High School in MN. I believe all students have a right to learn in a safe and supportive classroom. I am looking forward to an adventurous year as we read/write from a variety of genres and head north for our class trip to Deep Portage!
I live in Plymouth, MN with my husband and our two daughters. In my free time, I like to read, swim, hike, camp, garden, bake, geocache, and hunt for agates with my family. My favorite US National Parks are Yosemite and Grand Canyon; Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks are at the top of my bucket list. In MN, I love Itasca, Cascade River, and Bear Head Lake State Parks. My favorite literary genres to read are science fiction and memoirs - nonfiction narratives. I look forward to learning about each of our incoming sixth graders and welcome book recommendations that they're willing to share! Go Rockets!
Email is the best way to reach me!
