Hello!  My name is Amanda Bakken and I am so proud to be a Rockford Rocket.  I have been teaching for eighteen years.  I taught kindergarten at Sibley East Elementary in Arlington from 2008-2009, first grade at Cologne Academy from 2009-2013, and I joined the Rockford Elementary family in 2014.  Since coming to Rockford, I have taught both first and second grade.  REAMS is an incredible school to be a part of. 

Education is a core value of mine.  I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with an Elementary Education and Social Studies degree in 2007.  After a few years of practice in the profession, I obtained a Master's Degree in Literacy in 2018.   

My husband Brett and I live in Hanover with our two sons- Evan (14) and Owen (11), and our Bernedoodle, Finn.  As a family, we enjoy traveling (we are headed to the Smokey Mountains over MEA Break), watching and playing sports (you can find us at a rink, gymnasium, or field year round), and trying new restaurants (although Big Bore is our FAVORITE).  

Please know that my door is always open, your messages will always be returned, and your student will be well taken care of while in my classroom.  This is going to be an awesome year!
