The Rand Orienteering club has been putting on events in Gauteng for over 37 years, run by a small group of dedicated volunteers the club continues to host well organised and exciting events.

19/03/2020 - COVID-19 affecting orienteering events

The following events are postponed and possibly cancelled due to COVID-19 virus

  • Leeuwkop Golf Course Night Urban event 21 March
  • Jackal Creek Golf Course night Urban event 28 March
  • Western Cape Champs and SA Sprint Champs 1 April-3 May
  • Ruimsig Golf Course Urban Night Event 9 May

SAOF would like to support statements and directives made by the President of the nation and SASCOC in doing our part to limit the spread of Covid19. To that end, all SAOF

sanctioned events are to be postponed until the Nations President or other national body indicates that it is safe to resume the gathering of 100 people.

I am sure you have seen a lot in the media relating to safety precautions and recommendations in combating the pandemic. We will not repeat them here, other than to say

please take heed, and seek medical attention and treatment if you get flu like symptoms. Orienteering is still a sport that can be practiced outdoors without the gathering of

groups of people. SAOF encourages the clubs to be innovative in planning activities that encourage people to get outside and exercise, both shown to be immune boosting activ-

ities, without requiring any individual contact. Ideas and suggestions will be distributed on the SAOF website once vetted and approved as suitable in this challenging time.

We all look forward to competing again, in the meantime, keep running, and keep healthy.
