This 9-week Journalism & Media course introduces students to the fundamentals of reporting, digital media production, and ethical journalism through hands-on, real-world projects. Students will work as journalists covering school-related stories at Robin Hill, learning how to gather information, conduct interviews, and communicate clearly and responsibly through written and visual media.
Throughout the course, students will develop basic camera and filming skills, practice interviewing techniques, and learn the principles of journalistic ethics, including accuracy, fairness, and responsible publishing. Students will collaborate in teams to plan, film, and produce media content.
A key component of the course is Warrior Announcements, produced weekly on Fridays by student teams of two. Students will also complete journalism projects focused on Robin Hill events, students, and activities, with selected work published on the Warrior Facebook page, giving students an authentic audience for their work.
This course emphasizes teamwork, creativity, leadership, and communication while helping students build confidence as storytellers and responsible digital citizens.
